This is a well worn Pre War Gibson TB1 conversion banjo. The pot has all original Pre War hardware and parts, minus a new Presto tailpiece, and this has been converted with a Mitch unplated tone ring and a pro grade neck made by an unknown builder. This banjo is a powerful instrument that has been put together to give some sweet Pre War mojo.
This has the original Gibson maple shell with a maple neck and resonator. The resonator has original finish and white binding. The fretboard is rosewood and has a Nick Lucas inlay pattern. The banjo has the original 2 piece armrest, and original one piece flange. This also has a really nice vintage hardshell case with pink lining.
This is in great shape with typical age for a Pre War Gibson Banjo. I want to mention the flange does have a slight amount of pull but it’s not bad at all. It’s just not flat. There also is pitting in the metal on the flange.
The rest of the metal is in good shape with some wear. There is some minor scratching on the resonator but the finish on the resonator looks good. The neck is also in good shape with a clean fretboard and frets. There are spikes at frets 7,8,9 and 10. This is in good shape and the case is very clean inside and out.
This is set up with a Huber frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge and strings are both Huber and this also is a super player. This banjo has a lot of pop and is set up to be a thrill to play. This is a really good example of the classic Pre War Style Banjo.
