Description

These were the original Hardcore Pre War replicas that were made in Japan.  These were made by Saga in Japan and they did an extraordinary job on these banjos.  They did such a good job that today the banjo player for Ricky Scaggs (Russ Carson) plays one and these old JD Crowe Gold Star Banjos are HOT because of it.

This has a curly maple neck and resonator, each with w/b/w binding.  The fretboard is ebony and this has a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern.  The hardware is gold and all original and features a classic engraving pattern that is very well known.  This banjo is GORGEOUS and all original.

These have gotten very popular due to their true Professional Quality.  This banjo is set up and ready to go and includes a nice Superior Hardshell Case.

Condition and Set Up

The banjo is definitely in excellent shape.  The gold is in great shape with very little worn off.  The finish on the neck and resonator is also clean.  The frets and fretboard are basically perfect with spikes at frets 7 and 9.  The case is in really good shape inside and out.

This has a new Huber Frosted Head which is set to 90.  The bridge is a Snuffy Smith and this has new Huber strings.  The banjo is powerful and is set up and ready to go.
