Description
This has a 3 ply Hard Rock Maple Shell with a Mahogany Neck and Resonator. The fretboard is ebony with a Leaves and Bows inlay pattern. This is essentially identical to an RB3 except for a Fiddle Headstock, Ebony Fretboard and no concentric rings on the resonator. This is a true Mastertone Banjo and is definitely powerful.
The hardware is nickel and all original including a Gibson USA one piece flange and a Gibson Tone Ring. This also includes an original The Gibson Hardshell Case.
Condition
The banjo is overall in fantastic condition. The only real cosmetic issue is the flange has light pitting that covers the entire flange. This is pictured. There is also a ding at the top of the headstock. The banjo is truly in overall great shape but those points do need to mentioned.
The finish on the neck and resonator looks fantastic with no buckle scratching and a nice gloss. Other than the flange the hardware looks fantastic with a really nice shine. The frets and fretboard are in great shape and there are spikes in frets 7,8,9, and 10. This is truly in great shape even though the flange has so much pitting. The case is also in great shape but one of the latches is broken off.
Set Up
This is set up with a Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Sosebee and the strings are Huber and this also is a super player. This banjo has a lot of pop and is set up to be a thrill to play. This is a really good example of a serious powerhouse RB250 Banjo and is set up and ready to go!!
